Powerful: "It wasn’t until I admitted what the weight gave me that I could let it go." ~ an excerpt from Lisa Nichols on How to Release The Pounds Blocking Your Purpose
Whenever I ask a client what they are gaining by not releasing the weight, there is always an eerie silence. I can almost hear them thinking "Gaining? I'm not gaining anything!" Having spent 8 years of my life 100 pounds overweight (I still have a hard time claiming the term obese), I know that is denial talking. The truth is that the #1 reason many of us hold on to the weight is that we just can't bear to let go of what is attached to it. But if we truly want to be free, we have to face some more truths.
1: The outer weight is simply a tangible manifestation of an internal battle.
2: We don't need another miracle meal plan, diet pill, or cleanse, but a little - scratch that - a lot of courage. Courage to face our abandonment issues, courage to face our childhood hurts, courage to face our guilt, shame and feelings of inadequacy. Courage to look within and get real.
3: Until we face those things we have been running from, we will remain bound and no diet or exercise plan can save us because the REAL problem is yet to be solved. This is why we lose and regain, lose and regain. Our demons keep reappearing because we've tried to stuff them rather than address them.
4: Once we summon the courage to get real, life gives us the answers we've been seeking. They were there all along, they were just waiting on us to get ready.
So proud of Lisa for her transparency and giving this issue a public stage. I hope we get to team up one day.
If you're ready to finally get to the bottom of your problem, release the weight, and reclaim your life, I would be honored to be your coach. I've been where you are and I can show you the way out.
Over the last week I have had a series of reminders about communication that I want to share:
Until next time,
Change is hard. Along the journey it's easy to get frustrated with your lack of results but chances are you're even more frustrated with yourself for not being able to do what you know you should do! Why can't I do it?!! Why is this so hard?!! I know better, why can't I do better??! You can and you will...in time.
The growth process stinks. There is no easy button, only blood, sweat, and tears. You will hate it. You will want to quit. Life will hand you plenty of excuses to quit. Your emotions will be all over the place. The voice (little v) will try and convince you it's not even worth it. He is a liar. It IS worth it, but IS NOT going to be easy
Breakthrough eventually comes, IF you keep going. That IF is important to remember because change is inevitable IF AND ONLY IF you don't quit! Here's the thing: Failure often precedes victory. We hate that but it's true. There are countless examples of failing forward - biblical (the Woman with Issues in Mark 5, the Lepers in Luke 17, Naaman in 2 Kings 5) and more recent past (Thomas Edison and his 1,000 unsuccessful light bulb attempts, Oprah fired from TV, Michael Jordan cut from his high school bball team, Sidney Poitier bombed his 1st audition). What do they all have in common? Every one of them had to pass the "no one would blame me if I quit test." They all had to muster the courage to try again in the face of disappointment, embarrassment, zero results and sometimes down right humiliation. They've all taught us a valuable lesson: You have to keep moving at ALL costs.
Yes, even when it hurts. Yes, even when your results suck. Yes, even if you get it wrong more than you get it right. Yes, even when you want to kick yourself for doing or not doing "it" again, keep trying! Don't let your frustration get the best of you. Remember what frustration is...it is simply your heart confirming that you're not meant to stay here! You have somewhere to go! You're destined to be somewhere else! This is no longer who you desire to be! Stay focused on where want to go and it is only a matter of time before you arrive.

Your grind is YOUR grind...
Your vision is YOUR vision.
Other people getting it is nice, but NOT required.
- Some people will see and respect your vision but don't think it's for THEM.
- Some people will think it's irrelevant and NEVER get it.
- Some people will get it LATER (after you've reached a certain level of "success").
But it really doesn't matter what they do or don't do!
YOU are the only one that is called to believe. You must believe that what you SEE can come to BE if you put in the work. That is the mark of a DreamChaser.
Love these! Perfectly portion controlled at 50 calories (less than what's in 1 egg) plus 11g of protein for muscle building. The other benefit is you can use them as you go vs. opening the whole container and starting the countdown clock (once opened the egg white cartons are only good for 7 days). Eat these daily guilt free...enjoy!
Attention ladies!!! One of my good friends showed up to STRIVE sporting this Dri Sweat cap. Her testimony: "I know people who have spent $15 or more on a cap like this and it didn't work. This one works and it's only $4 at Sally's!" Ladies, I haven't always sported the fro! For YEARS I used my relaxed hair as an excuse for why I couldn't work out...and it almost cost my quality of life. Don't be like me and wait for crisis to hit, get your Dri Sweat cap and get to work!
Today I’m in RoboCop mode trying to clean up the condo. My homegirl and I are hanging out later tonight and quite honestly, the house is a mess after traveling 2 weeks in a row and then hosting #ItsAllAboutMeWeek. I prefer a clean house but when I considered the 40-50 hour work week plus the 20ish hours I put into #265Point each week and my need for #Sabbath and fellowship, it was clear something had to go. I COULDN’T DO IT ALL. But I used to try.
You see #SuperWomanSyndrome says you can be everywhere and do everything as if there is an endless stream of time and energy. That is a LIE. Everyone from MLK Jr. to Mother Theresa to Barack Obama had the limitation of time – they all got 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. And, as much as God loved His only son, he too got 24/7/365 to fulfill His call. The bottom line: The issue is not how much time we have but what we choose to do with it.
Earlier this year, I hung up my SuperWoman cape because the expectations that come with that job are unrealistic. Instead, I claim the title of Wonder Woman. God says I’m wonderfully made (Psalm 139) and wonders are “a cause of surprise, astonishment, or admiration.” Made in His image, I am capable of amazing and wonderful things! That does not, however, remove the gift of limits. Prioritization is necessary and key.
Faced with the difficult choice of what to let go, my mind went back to a conversation I had with my coach years ago. He impressed upon me that “you will never have peace when your life is out of alignment with your values.” So…I reviewed my values list (if you don't have one, you need one), determined that having a perfect house wasn’t on the list and let it go. The same it is with you.
Are you investing your time where it matters most? Or competing with an unrealistic expectation of how much you can handle which ultimately puts YOU at the bottom of your to-do list time and time again? Something to think about.
