Did you know that beverages account for 21% of the calories that the average American consumes in a day? Yep it's true and this little known fact plays a big role in so many Americans are overweight. Here's why: The liquid calories we like to consume typically provide very little nutritional value and do very little to reduce hunger. So we end up drinking a ton of high calorie drinks, because they taste good and we're addicted to the sugar (a topic for a future post), and we're still hungry. When we're hungry, we eat. Even if our food choices are relatively healthy and in the right portions, drinking too many liquid calories will cause us to gain weight...every single time.
